Botox

What is Botox®?

Botox® is a Health Canada approved treatment designed to help fight wrinkles and fine lines, excessive sweating and improve facial contouring. To really understand the benefits of Botox® , let's take a closer look at each treatment:

Wrinkles and Fine Lines

To reduce and keep wrinkles from forming, Botox is injected directly into the muscle under the skin that is wrinkling when the muscle contracts. The skin is repeatedly folding, wrinkling and stretching when we move our face and leaving permanent lines. Botox temporarily reduces this activity by paralyzing the muscle. Botox will help achieve a smoother appearance and keep lines from forming with continuous upkeep.

Hyperhidrosis

Excessive sweating, also known as Hyperhidrosis is treatable with Botox injections. Botox is injected into the affected area and blocks the nervous response that is responsible for stimulating the sweat glands. These overactive glands continuously create sweat which can leave you feeling moist or soaked at all times. Hyperhidrosis can affect your underarms, back, feet, palm of the hand... pretty much anywhere you have sweat glands. Localized tenderness or bruising may occur at the injection site but will subside within a day after treatment. You will notice visibly less sweat after the first treatment. Follow up appointments are recommended as this treatment is effective in reducing sweat for about 6 months.

Jawline Slimming

The highly desirable V-line jaw is increasingly popular now that it can be achieved non-surgically. Botox is injected into the masseter muscle which will cause them to relax. After a while, these muscles will shrink and give you a slimmer jawline. This masseter muscle in your jaw can be very strong, especially in people who clench or grind their teeth. Overtime these muscles can bulk up and create a predominate lower face.

This treatment also helps with those suffering from pain in their jaw and headaches by decreasing the grinding or clenching of the teeth.

Results & Recovery

Botox is a quick procedure with minimal recovery time. Botox to treat wrinkles on the face takes about 10 minutes and virtually no down time. You can carry on with your daily routine as soon as you leave the clinic.

There might be bruising and swelling at the injection site when treating Hyperhidrosis but that is a common side effect. You will notice less sweat after the first treatment and results should last up to 6 months.

You might find some difficulty chewing temporarily after jawline slimming injections but side effects are rare. There is no downtime and you can resume daily activity. Results can last up to 6 months.

Botox is Health Canada approved and safely administered by a Certified Nurse at Aura Laser and Skin Care Clinic.
